Murray Dabby
For more than 35 years, Murray Dabby has walked alongside people from all walks of life—physicians and academics, entrepreneurs and business leaders, ministers and non-profit directors, artists and performers, families and couples; helping them navigate life’s challenges and discover new possibilities for growth.
Murray specializes in therapeutic and relationship coaching with individuals, couples, families, and groups. His work supports people in moving through crisis, deepening their relationships, grow with trauma, and creating stronger connections with themselves and others. Clients often describe Murray’s approach as both compassionate and practical—rooted in care, creativity, humor and trust.
As the Director of the Atlanta Center for Social Therapy, Murray brings a unique perspective shaped by decades of experience in mental health, family therapy, community activism, and research. He is a long-time practitioner and trainer of Social Therapy, a non-diagnostic, performance-based approach that encourages people to see life itself as an ongoing creative act. Murray was also a founding member of the internationally recognized East Side Institute, where he continues to serve on the affiliate faculty. Murray was also a founding member and is on the faculty of the internationally recognized East Side Institute. His book, Social Therapeutic Coaching: A Practical Guide to Working with Groups and Couples, presents the basics of social therapeutics, with plentiful examples of working with groups and couples.
In addition to his therapy and coaching practice, Murray co-created The Couples College, a group-based program designed to help partners strengthen their relationships by strengthening relational skills. He also co-created “Curtain Up Anxiety Down” a program using improv and group processes for help with disabling social anxiety. His background in the performing arts—as a musician, community theatre director, and teacher who integrates performance and improvisation—shapes his belief that everyone has the capacity to “perform” new ways of living and relating.
Warm, creative, and out-of-the-box in his approach, Murray helps people imagine and practice more fulfilling ways of being in the world—instilling confidence that real change and growth are always possible.
