Social Therapy Study Program

A Service of the Atlanta Center for Social Therapy

Learn. Grow. Create Together.
The Social Therapy Study Program is an ongoing group experience for professionals and lifelong learners who want to explore how people grow emotionally through collaboration and performance.

Rooted in the pioneering work of the East Side Institute (ESI) in New York — an international leader in social therapeutic training and research — this Atlanta-based study group provides a welcoming space to learn, discuss, and practice the principles of social therapy developed by Fred Newman and Lois Holzman.

  • Educators, facilitators, and community organizers who want to foster collective development in their classrooms or groups.

  • Leadership and organizational professionals looking to apply creativity, collaboration, and emotional development to team growth.

  • Students and lifelong learners curious about postmodern psychology and how people create change together.

How It Works

  • Format: Small-group discussions and experiential learning sessions.

  • Led by: Murray Dabby and the Atlanta Center for Social Therapy team.

  • Setting: In-person and virtual participation options available.

  • Enrollment: Rolling, by inquiry or invitation.

What You’ll Experience

Participants gain:

  • A deeper understanding of the foundations and philosophy of social therapy.

  • Tools to apply social therapeutic concepts in real-world settings therapy, coaching, education, and leadership.
